I recently built a browser extension that gives you a contextual explanation on any text you highlight on a web. And this product can be used as a material to think about this ‘Fundamentalism way of thinking’ that I frequently talk about. So, let’s look at the product:
On the surface level: it’s like google search that can be done by highlighting. convenient and saves time.
FWT: it reduces the information loss during the transfer of knowledge from the author to the reader with the vehicle we call ‘text’ that can be visually consumed. We live in a world where information is like blood running through the veins of our society, keeping things functional. We pass around knowledge but there’s always a loss, and this tool is helping to reduce this loss.
See? Now it’s not about mere convenience anymore, it’s about a solution to a problem in our society that exists on a large scale. (For a better constructive understanding of information loss in our society, see article <Information Loss>)
I don’t know if this way of thinking is useful in any way, I don’t yet find it really useful but it’s still kinda fun.
Occasionally, it should be able to be used as a general instruction or reference for product development.
